Court rules that automakers may store your texts and calls without explicit authorization
When cops get the run-around from Apple or Google over access to someone's text messages, they know who to try next: the company that makes the target's car. A Washington appeals court ruled this week that Honda and other automakers did nothing wrong by storing text messages and call records from connected phones, at least when it comes to the state Privacy Act. — Read the rest
Pope Francis fires right-wing Texas bishop

Florida teacher fired for using gender neutral "Mx." instead of "Ms."
A teacher in Florida has filed a complaint after being fired for using a gender-neutral honorific, "Mx.", in emails and other school communications, instead of "Ms." The teacher, who uses the name AV Vary over their legal name, taught high schoolscience at Florida Virtual School, an online public school, until Oct. — Read the rest
